I'm getting an APPDATA Environment Variable error when running the Configure Reference Manager program, and the Reference Manager program itself won't start. How can I fix this? |
Answer:
This error message comes up if your Application Data environmental variable is not assigned to your computer. To assign this variable in your computer:
- Right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- Go to the Advanced tab and click on the Environmental Variables button.
- Here, click on the New button under the System variables, and put the following information in the two boxes:
Variable Name: APPDATA
Variable Value: %USERPROFILE%\Application Data
- Then click OK, and you should be able to run the Configure Reference Manager program without running into errors.
Another way to potentially resolve this issue is to go to a command prompt in Windows and type the following:
SET APPDATA=%USERPROFILE%\Application Data
