ISI ResearchSoft Announces
Reference Manager® 10 Network Version

Powerful bibliography software application
streamlines publishing for researchers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Carlsbad, CA, USA - February 20, 2002 - ISI ResearchSoft announces the release of Reference Manager 10 Network Version, a major upgrade that now offers the same dynamic features as the single user version—an enhanced integration with Microsoft® Word®, new ways to store links to Web-based research, and direct access to ISI Web of Science®. Unique to this network version are links from Reference Manager to two powerful new research tools increasingly found on users’ desktops—data visualization software and the OpenURL standard.

These enhancements, coupled with Reference Manager’s already robust research tools and refined searching and sorting capabilities, make it the ideal solution for corporate, government and academic researchers, librarians, and students who need to find, import, manage and perfectly format reference data for professional journals, grants, dissertations, CVs, research papers as well as other types of publications.

“As the Web becomes increasingly important in the day-to-day life of the researcher, our users are looking to extend the power of bibliographic software,” said David Kochalko, President of ISI ResearchSoft. “With these new links to data visualization software and the implementation of the OpenURL standard, our network customers have access to the latest technologies, allowing them to maximize the potential of their research workgroups,” Kochalko continued.

Cite While You Write with Instant Formatting in Microsoft Word
The enhanced Cite While You Write feature allows for greater efficiency in the writing and research process. Reference Manager now instantly formats a finished bibliography as users cite references in the document. Sharing documents for collaborative writing has never been easier than with Reference Manager’s new traveling library. Documents contain complete reference data for all citations. Wherever the document goes, the references travel with it—ready for colleagues to add, delete and reformat citations in the same document.

New Fields for Storing Links to Web Pages and Files
Reference Manager 10 Network Version now has four dedicated fields in each reference for storing links to full-text documents, PDF files, image files and more. The linked information can be stored on the Internet or on any accessible hard drive or network server for quick retrieval and review. Additional improvements include expanded linkages to the ISI Web of KnowledgeSM platform and over 150 new content files, including output styles, import filters and connection files, making it easier to connect to and import data from a wide variety of online sources.

OmniVizTM and SFX—Two New Powerful Research Tools
Users of the network version are now able to access their OmniViz software directly through the Reference Manager interface. OmniViz, the only available data visualization program that can analyze both textual and numeric information in the same framework, provides users with a visual interpretation of their reference data, allowing for easy recognition of relevant trends and patterns within this data. OmniViz can also send references back to Reference Manager databases.

The Reference Manager 10 network version supports the OpenURL standard. With an installed SFX server, users will have access to a host of related, virtual links that allow them to easily navigate between independently supported online databases at the document level. Using SFX ensures that users’ links are always up-to-date.

Pricing and Availability
Reference Manager 10 Network Version is designed for Windows 98/ME/XP and Windows NT4/2000. The list price of Reference Manager Network Version is $1,395.95 USD. Special upgrade prices are available to owners of previous network versions. The network version of Reference Manager 10 is available from ISI ResearchSoft, college and university bookstores, and authorized resellers worldwide.
