FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
Carlsbad, CA, USA - June 18, 2001 CHEST and ISI ResearchSoft announced today an agreement to offer site-wide licenses to Higher Education Sites, Further Education Sites, Research Councils and selected Associated Sites in the United Kingdom (UK) for EndNote, ProCite and Reference Manager, the leading bibliographic software tools for researchers, students and librarians.
"In response to requests for more affordable pricing and licensing terms for these publishing tools, EduServ has negotiated an agreement which is available to all CHEST institutions. The value of the community's investment in content should be considerably enhanced and end-users will be able to use more effectively records that have been downloaded," said Nigel Lodge, Deputy Chief Executive. "The agreement is structured to accommodate the requirements of institutions within the CHEST Consortium and also for staff and students who require copies for their personal equipment."
Under the agreement, CHEST institutions can subscribe to site-wide licenses for any combination of these software programs for a three-year term. At subscribing institutions, the software may be installed on any institution-owned or operated computer, whether used by faculty, staff, or students. Individual members of a subscribing institution may also purchase a personal license for installation on any computer that is not owned or operated by the licensed institution, including home use. As an ISI ResearchSoft authorized distributor in the UK, Adept Scientific will provide customer service and technical support related to these CHEST negotiated licenses.
"Our agreement through CHEST confirms the growing interest we are seeing in site-wide licenses by institutions looking to enhance their support of the vital research performed by faculty and students," said David Kochalko, President of ISI ResearchSoft. "The seamless integration of EndNote, ProCite, and Reference Manager with the ISI Web of Science® provides a powerful combination for researchers in the CHEST community who write and publish."
"The ISI ResearchSoft products are superb, and until now we had to purchase copies for each postgraduate student," said Professor Peter Brooks, University of Plymouth. "The new licensing system will be a definite bonus for me."
